| Abstract |
|
A
female patient, suffering from cystitis, developed a high
fever and right-sided kidney pain. Lachesis was prescribed
on the basis that for the last four days the chills lasted
from 2 to 3 pm and that the kidneys were extremely sensitive
to touch. Her symptoms changed, but she did not improve so
Lycopodium was prescribed. This produced a slight improvement
but her fever was still high so Bryonia was prescribed. This
produced another change in symptoms (without much improvement)
which then clearly indicated Chelidonium. This brought her
temperature down and reduced her kidney pain. Ultrasound showed
an abscess in right kidney at this time, which disappeared
after another 3 days without further treatment, and the patient
continued to improve. It is interesting to note that the patient's
emotional and mental state improved through the disease, providing
the strength to solve long standing problems. The author wonders
whether it was necessary to prescribe all the different remedies
(which are well known to be complementary) in sequence in
this case, or if Chelidonium was the right remedy from the
beginning.
