| Abstract |
|
The
natural methods of drainage or elimination are through the
intestines, kidneys and skin. Hepatic function should be envisaged
with these centres in mind. Some remedies like Phosphorous
achieve elimination via the bloodstream and kidneys; others,
like Sulphur work through the biliary passages and the intestines.
This article mainly discusses homeopathic drugs that act on
the liver, but there is some discussion of kidney drainage.

|
Solidago
acts by opening the renal barrier and, secondly the intestinal
one. Solidago is the best remedy to use in preventing aggravations
such as may be produced by Sulphur, Nux vomica and Lycopodium.
It can be prescribed for a week before the basic or constitutional
remedy.

Berberis
has an elective action on the kidneys, bladder, liver and
digestive tract. Other remedies include Carduus marianus,
Hydrastis, Myrica and Chelidonium.
