Abstract

A case of a seven year old boy suffering from bronchial asthma is presented. His case history reveals a legacy of illness inappropriately treated with conventional medications, originally stemming from eczema at 8 weeks old treated with Cortisone. The case is analysed and Lachesis 200 is prescribed after repertorisation of the symptoms of "suppressed eruption", "awkwardness", "forsaken feeling" and "dictatorial" and differential diagnosis according to "heat and cold", "desire milk" and "hemorrhoids protrude during stool". The child improves quickly and does well for three weeks until less intense asthmatic symptoms return, however no prescription is made and his breathing progressively gets better. The author stresses the importance of abstaining from prescribing another remedy after the prescription of the correct one if the symptoms return but are less intense as before. The child feels well for 6 months though his headaches, morning cough, constipation and obstinate nature persists and a new characteristic of fear of burglars is revealed. Lachesis 1M is then prescribed when an asthmatic attack strikes after a weekend spent with his father emphasing the child's sensitivity to separation. His condition degenerates again when his mother splits up with her new partner and Lachesis is prescibed this time in the 10M potency. He develops urticaria for which he is given Lachesis LM and his fear of burglars disappears. Since then the child has had no serious problems and has been of a much more pleasant nature.
