Histaminum
has not had a homoeopathic proving, but there has been experimental
work with Histaminum 7c in which a blocking of the degranulation
of Basophils was observed. The author has used Histaminum in
a few cases of allergic rhinitis and asthma where indicated
remedies were not succeeding and some of the cases showed remarkably
good response. A 38 year old woman had started suffering from
asthma 13 years previously, just after the birth of her first
child. Her attacks were more frequent in the summer. Arsenicum
album gave her no relief from one particular asthma attack and
as she had persistent asthma trouble for the following 25 days
she was prescribed Histaminum 7c. This was successful and since
then Histaminum has enabled her to control the attacks and make
them less frequent. Cases are also given of the successful treatment
of pustular or oozing eczema with Aethiops antimonialis thus
avoiding the use of an antibiotic.
