| Abstract |

A
retrospective clinical study was carried out to evaluate the
efficacy of homoeopathic treatment in a series of asthmatic
patients. Twenty-six patients suffering from bronchial asthma
with at least one year's follow-up were included in the study.
Treatment outcome for cure was at least one year free of any
asthmatic symptom with a general improvement in health and removal
of mental, general and local symptoms and ailments not incurable,
while treatment outcome for improvement was improvement of their
health but without complete cure of mental, general and local
symptoms, bronchial asthma symptoms being less intense and less
frequent but present or with a remission of less than one year's
duration. Twenty-two remedies were used including Sulphur (19
patients), Calcarea carbonica (14 patients), Lycopodium clavatum
(12 patients) and Pulsatilla (10 patients). The effectiveness
of the homoeopathic treatment was confirmed (57% cured, 23 %
improved), however factors such as duration of illness, suppression
due to conventional drugs and family history complicated and
prolonged treatment and as a result made some cases incurable.
