Abstract

A retrospective clinical study was carried out to evaluate the efficacy of homoeopathic treatment in a series of asthmatic patients. Twenty-six patients suffering from bronchial asthma with at least one year's follow-up were included in the study. Treatment outcome for cure was at least one year free of any asthmatic symptom with a general improvement in health and removal of mental, general and local symptoms and ailments not incurable, while treatment outcome for improvement was improvement of their health but without complete cure of mental, general and local symptoms, bronchial asthma symptoms being less intense and less frequent but present or with a remission of less than one year's duration. Twenty-two remedies were used including Sulphur (19 patients), Calcarea carbonica (14 patients), Lycopodium clavatum (12 patients) and Pulsatilla (10 patients). The effectiveness of the homoeopathic treatment was confirmed (57% cured, 23 % improved), however factors such as duration of illness, suppression due to conventional drugs and family history complicated and prolonged treatment and as a result made some cases incurable.

Abstract

Histaminum has not had a homoeopathic proving, but there has been experimental work with Histaminum 7c in which a blocking of the degranulation of Basophils was observed. The author has used Histaminum in a few cases of allergic rhinitis and asthma where indicated remedies were not succeeding and some of the cases showed remarkably good response. A 38 year old woman had started suffering from asthma 13 years previously, just after the birth of her first child. Her attacks were more frequent in the summer. Arsenicum album gave her no relief from one particular asthma attack and as she had persistent asthma trouble for the following 25 days she was prescribed Histaminum 7c. This was successful and since then Histaminum has enabled her to control the attacks and make them less frequent. Cases are also given of the successful treatment of pustular or oozing eczema with Aethiops antimonialis thus avoiding the use of an antibiotic.

Abstract

In bronchial asthma a patient presents with intermittent difficult respiration, cough and wheezring. Usually these complaints are aggravated at night and the asthmatic attacks may be precipitated by cold air, smoke, dust and respiratory infections. In this paper, the author presents his clinical case that was cured with a homoeopathic remedy in a short period of eleven months. The medicine "Tuberculinum 200" was prescribed in two doses to be taken two hours apart with saclac thrice a day for a month. The patient remained on sac lac for a further period of four months. However some potency of tuberculinum was repeated twice during whole course of treatment.
