| Abstract |
|
The
author discusses the remedy Cina maritima and suggests that
it has a relationship with asthma. This concept is derived from
two rubrics in Kent's Repertory where Cina is shown in bold
type - "cough" and "asthmatic breathing." The author then compares
aspects of Cina's drug picture with symptoms which might be
seen in asthma. He then compares Cina with other remedies indicated
in asthma such as Ipecacuanha, Arsenicum album and Nux xomica
and discusses its complementary remedies which include Sulphur,
Silicea, Calcarea carbonica, Sulphur iodatum and Lycopodium
clavatum. He finishes with two case reports where Cina has been
successfully prescribed, either on its own or with a complementary
remedy.
