Title: Exotic Medicinal Plants of Lucknow
Objective: To give a
consolidated account of the exotic medicinal plant wealth of Lucknow, used in
Homoeopathy.
Materials
& Methods: The data presented
here are based on frequent field trips conducted during 1994 to 1996 and also
from existing literature. The enlisted
plants were growing in the National Botanical Research Institute (NBRI),
Central Institute of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants (CIMAP), other gardens and
various locality in Lucknow. Each species was mentioned with correct name,
followed by relevant synonym, if any, brief description, distribution, part
used and clinical application.
Results: The present study enlisted exotic medicinal plants under
78 genera of 42 families invariably used for preparation of medicines in
Homeopathy.
Conclusion: Present study gives a consolidated account of the exotic
medicinal plant wealth of Lucknow, used for the treatment of common ailments
through homoeopathic system of medicine. It may also serve as a systemic guide
to homoeopaths and other who are interested in this system of medicine.
