Saraca indica is an indigenous plant commonly known as ashok in Hindi, belongs to the family Leguminosae,
a tree of 7-10 meters height and distributed in evergreen forests of India. The
bark is used for the preparation of homoeopathic medicines. The rishis
of ancient times had recommended it in all sorts of female complaints
especially related to menstrual irregularities. The medicine was studied by
CCRH during the period 1980 – 2003 in various potencies, viz. Q, 6c, 30c &
200c. The study explicated that,
Saraca indica is very useful in treating the disorders of female sex as reported in literatures. It is
also having remarkable action on other parts of the body as well, like mind,
head, eyes, nose, stomach, abdomen, rectum, respiratory system, chest, back and
extremities. The symptoms which were
confirmed repeatedly in a number of patients during the trial are : absent
mind, vertigo, headache, conjunctivitis, styes, otalgia, coryza, tonsillitis, anorexia,
dyspepsia, constipation, bleeding piles, orchitis, night emission, leucorrhoea,
irregular menstruation, menorrhagia, dysmenorrhoea, amenorrhoea,
palpitation, lumbago, cervical pain,
pain in calf muscles, disturbed sleep and myositis as reported in
literatures. Beside these, symptoms/ conditions
like pyorrhoea, acidity, colitis, bronchitis, arthritis and pyrexia etc. were also disappeared or effectively reduced
during the trial of the medicine.
